Why owning less stuff may lead to more happiness

The content of this article does not wholly live up to the promise of its title.  Nevertheless, this piece did manage to chip some ice in my head.

The concept of a “sharing economy” seems antithetical to what I have learned about capitalist thinking.  Specifically, this new idea stands in stark contrast to the assumption that humans have an insatiable need to have more.

Or does it stand in contrast?  What does it truly mean to have something?  Can sharing in the various ways the author mentions still satisfy capitalism’s assumption about boundless human avarice?
