A widely reported, recent Pew poll of religious affiliation among Americans reported that that the fastest growing affiliation is “None.” The growth in “none” designations is especially notable among those under 35. I have heard many explanations for these results, but none has sounded particularly compelling. Hence, these results are just one more target for our curiosity.
But while thinking about this issue, I encountered a website with a huge compilation of resources for all of you who have a hunger for learning more about any reasoning that might be moving people in the “none” direction. But my understanding of the poll results is that most of the “none’s” are not anti-religious; they are areligious. They simply do not understand the fuss about religious belief.
